Happy Homemaker Monday

Welcome to Happy Homemaker Monday! Thanks to Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom for starting us off each week.

The weather...Wet and 42 degrees. We have had a couple of light frosts but still not a killing frost yet.

Right now I am...Still in my jammies in a room full of dogs enjoying the warmth from the wood stove.

Thinking...I really need to get started on my stamping club projects for Wednesday night! It will be a busy day!!!

On my reading pile...Still have the Happiness Key series by Emilie Richards; new Vegetarian Times magazine; read-a-loud is Sackett's Land by Louie L'Amour (by request of my husband and son).

On my TV...Maybe a few more episodes of McLeod's Daughters. It really made the time go by quicker when I was making applesauce last week.

On the menu for this week...
Monday--Tofu Spinach Lasagna, Brussels sprouts and garlic French bread
Tuesday--Leftover Mushroom Barley soup
Wednesday--Day off
Thursday--Tacos
Friday--Potato Corn Chowder
Saturday--not sure yet
Sunday--Mizidra

On my to do list...

  • Projects for stamping club
  • Laundry
  • Start deep cleaning for Thanksgiving (company coming)
What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or crafting...
  • Still working on the blue Infinity Scarf
  • Lots of paper crafting going on this week
  • I am going to learn to do Hexies this week:)
  • I am planning to make those fleece "swiffer" dusters this week:)
Homemaking tips...Do you have some hair conditioner that you bought but don't really like? Use it to shave your legs! I have done this for years and it makes your legs silky smooth and you don't need to moisturize afterward. Any hair conditioner will work--even the cheap stuff!

Looking around the house...Dog beds, dog toys and DOGS (Great Dane, English Bulldog and Miniature Dachshund)!!! It's too cold for them to be outside so they gather around the wood stove!

From the camera...Nothing today:(

On my prayer list...Dear Sweet Ruby. She is in the hospital and it doesn't look good.

Bible verse; devotional..."She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness." Proverbs 31:26

Well, that's it for today. I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you are:) Hopefully will be back tomorrow with some fruits of my labors!

Kat

  1. Curious abut your read alouds... Do you each take a night? Once a week or nightly? And is it a single chapter each time or ??? It must be nice to listen to someone read while you knit or crochet along by the fire. :) I drove my grandparents to/from Alaska after I graduated from high school and my Gram read aloud to us. I enjoyed that.

    1. Hi Kim! I read aloud nearly every night. On this book I have been reading two chapters a night. This is one book we downloaded to my iPad so it's a new experience for me. I have been doing this since the kids were little. I don't think my family will ever let me quit:)

    2. That's nice. I read chapter books to our girls at bedtime but that stopped many yrs ago. Nice that your family still enjoys that. Don't think I could convince hubby to participate tho. :) Perhaps they can read to you sometime. It might be fun to be the listener on occasion.

  2. I have to do that hair conditioner thing, I have boxes of the stuff I bought when it was on sale. Great tip :)

I will have to try the read aloud too, that sounds like something I would enjoy. And I do love Louie L'Amour.

Have a fantastic week Kat :)

    1. I learned the hair conditioner trick about 25 years ago and it works great!

The read alouds are a great way to have family time:) My kids always loved it! They would often encourage me to read during mealtimes when we had an interesting book going. When my daughter was still at home she would help me with the reading sometimes.
