C is for Crafting and Cardmaking

Welcome to day three of the A to Z Blogging Challenge!
Did you know that 2278 bloggers are participating in this challenge? WOW! Last year I think there were just over 1700! I am #905:) We will see how many complete the challenge. I sure hope I am one of them!!!

One of my favorite crafting pastimes is cardmaking! I so enjoy taking paper, ink, stamps and glue and be able to create something truly beautiful. Stampin' Up! has helped me so much to grow in this crafting passion!

Recently my paper crafting grew from cardmaking to making this fun Spring Sampler to put in a frame on the wall. Each little square is actually a miniature card:)

I also enjoying knitting and crocheting. The baby afghan above is crocheted using the Tunisian stitch (also called the Afghan stitch). I make a lot of baby afghans using this pattern. It is a great way for me to relax while also producing handmade baby gifts for family and friends.

Doilies are another favorite for me to make! I love how you can take inexpensive cotton thread and a crochet hook and make something truly beautiful! My mother and grandmother used to make crocheted tablecloths but I'm not sure my attention span would allow me to finish a table cloth. Doilies are doable for me:)

I could share more but am trying to keep my blog posts for the challenge a little shorter than normal.

What is your favorite craft? Do you craft to create or relax?

Tomorrow, D is for???

  1. I love that spring sampler! I used to scrapbook, but I've been busy lately. I cross-stitch too. I would knit but don't want to take the time to learn.

    1. Thanks, Carol! I used to scrapbook too but have narrowed the craft down to mostly cards. I, too, like to cross stitch but haven't done it for awhile. Knitting and crocheting are sooo relaxing for me.

  2. Your cards are beautiful! I have never crocheted but really respect the art form. I'm glad you are keeping your posts brief... it is hard to visit as many A-Zers as I'd like and have to read long posts... This way I get a great intro to your blog. Thank you!

    1. Thank you, Meghan! Yes, it is hard to get through the "must read" blogs when some are really long but some of those long ones are really good! I will have to play catchup on my blog reading/commenting when I get home from vacation--probably Sunday!

  3. Hi from #897! I tried card making, but couldn't get much into it. I do knit and crochet, enjoy both a lot (let's just say, I have left the house without my purse, but never without my knitting... eep!) Hope you enjoy the A to Z as much as I do!

  4. My aunt in particular loved to knit. She always had a kit with her to knit together the latest project she was working on.

    1. Yes, my knitting bag goes everywhere with me! I have a custom made knitting bag from Carla at halfdozendaily.typepad.com. My son blessed me with it for Mother's Day last year:)

  5. I don't craft but greatly admire those who do. My mother in law recently took up quilling and it is fascinating to watch!

    1. Oh, quilting is wonderful! I so admire the skill involved but haven't taken it up myself--have a lot of friends who quilt!
