Monochromatic Man Card

Masculine cards are hard for me but hey, guys have birthdays too! So I scoured Pinterest for a card I thought might be good for our friend Jim! He and his family had just been to the Oregon Coast for Spring Break so this card by Beth Ann Wilson from Beth Ann's Stamp Pad Creations seemed appropriate. It looks like Beth Ann is no longer making and posting cards but she deserves credit nonetheless! For this card I pulled out a retired color...Midnight Muse!

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! supplies:

  • Cardstock: Midnight Muse and Whisper White
  • Stamp Sets: By the Tide and Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired)
  • Ink: Midnight Muse
  • Other: Midnight Muse Stitched Ribbon and Dimensionals (of course)
After yesterday's post I thought I should keep this one short and sweet! I hope you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Wondrous Wreath for Spring

Yesterday was one busy day but a fun one. First up was my dental cleaning...not so much fun...but the hygienist said all looks great at 8 months following my LANAP procedure the middle of August! And I have felt sooo much better since a few months after the procedure...more energy and better immune system! After my teeth were sparkly clean we went to lunch. I know, doesn't make sense to dirty up those pearly whites right after but I was sooo hungry!!!

Next on the agenda was Joann's...it was Senior Citizen Day with a 20% discount on just about everything. Could I find anything? Well, not much, but I did find embossing folders (reg. price $3.99-4.99) for 5/$10!!!

The best part was a pedicure with my favorite technician, Joyce! She is amazing and such a sweetheart. I hadn't been since last Fall so it was definitely time! Hubby picked out the color to debut my pedicured sandal feet for Spring; OPI Romeo and Juliet! I love the names OPI gives their polishes. I had picked out Chocolate Moose (yes, I spelled that correctly) but went with Hubby's choice and love it!!!

A trip to Costco yielded me a new pair of my favorite shoes for walking...Fila Hyper Split in a beautiful shade of teal or turquoise or something like that...for just $19.99!!! I am currently wearing a pair of hot pink ones I bought last summer and just started wearing a month and a half ago when I started walking again but they are sooo comfortable I promised myself if they got them at Costco again I would buy them and put them away for when I need them. I have trouble getting tennis shoes that feel good and these feel great!!! I have been walking 2-3 miles a day, 5-6 days a week! Feels good and the dogs really love it and look forward to it:)

Today I had an online class through Creative Live on Beginning Mixed Media. Creative Live posts some classes that are free while they are live but once the class is over you can purchase it to watch over and over for $39. This was a 3-hour class and the instructor was amazing! I don't do Mixed Media (yet) but have been curious about what it is all about. I would like to combine it with Art Journaling, which I also haven't started...yet!

So sorry to be super long-winded today! I really do have a card to share but was super excited to share all the other fun things as well:)

The card for today I call Wondrous Wreath for Spring! Doesn't this card just scream Spring?!!! The Wondrous Wreath was in the Holiday catalog and carried over to the Occasions catalog. I do hope it makes it into the new Annual Catalog starting in June! I used it for Fall, Christmas and now Spring! It is so versatile!

I found the inspiration for this card on Pinterest and my thanks go out to Amy Koenders of Stamp with Amy K! I switched it up just a little but not a lot! I have some Purely Pomegranate cardstock that I squirreled away when it retired a few years back and thought it would be perfect with this card paired with Wild Wasabi and the combo did not disappoint!

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! supplies:

  • Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate (retired), So Saffron and Pink Pirouette
  • Stamp Sets: Wondrous Wreath and Crazy About You (sentiment)
  • Ink: Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Pistachio Pudding, Purely Pomegranate (retired)
  • Big Shot with Lovely Lace Embossing Folder and Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies
  • Other: Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals, Glue Dots
Don't forget that Stampin' Up! has FREE SHIPPING through tomorrow, April 10 and you can get there by clicking on the shopping cart on the right!

That's it for me today! I hope you are having a great day and that the sun is shining where you are.

Painted Blooms and Butterflies

I was looking on Pinterest for a third card for my 3 Card Swap using the Butterfly Basics stamp set and came across this beauty uploaded by Faith Welch! I didn't find a website or tutorial for you but it is pretty straight forward! Thank you Faith for this simply elegant design!

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! supplies:
  • Paper: Midnight Muse (retired), Whisper White and Old Olive cardstock; Painted Blooms designer series paper
  • Stamps: Butterfly Basics and A Dozen Thoughts
  • Ink: Midnight Muse and Tuxedo Black Memento
  • Big Shot with Butterfly Thinlits
  • Other: Glue dots and Basic Rhinestones
This card will need a bigger than normal envelope because of the Butterfly but that's easy to solve with the Envelope Punch Board:)

I will be back on Sunday with something...just not sure what, yet! Have a great weekend!

Butterfly Basics Screen Card

I am totally in love with the Butterfly Basics stamp set by Stampin' Up! along with the Butterfly Thinlits! I am having a problem right now because I want to use the Butterfly Basics for every card! I was inspired in the making of this card by Connie Stewart at Simply Simple Stamping. She used a different stamp set but I got great ideas from her for this card. If you haven't checked out Connie's Flash Cards and Flash Cards 2.0, you are missing a lot! Plus Connie has a 2 Minute Tip each Tuesday that is helpful...like how to fold your card stock! Can you tell I'm a fan?!!!

This card is part of a three card Swap and I will show the other two cards over the next couple of days! All three cards were supposed to use the same stamp set which, of course, was not hard for me!

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! supplies:

  • Paper: Whisper White and Island Indigo cardstock; Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper
  • Butterfly Basics stamp set
  • Ink: Soft Suede, Island Indigo, Old Olive and Early Espresso; colored with Blendabilities (discontinued)
  • Big Shot with Butterfly Thinlits
  • Decorative Label Punch
  • Other: Glue Dots and Basic Pearls
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you liked the card I had to share today.

Happy Homemaker Monday

Welcome to Happy Homemaker Monday hosted by Sandra at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom

The weather outside is::::
It's 56 degrees (F) and looks like it might rain today. It's kinda dark and dreary outside.

On the breakfast plate this morning::::
Okay, I breaking my fast a little today as I am eating a slice of delicious Cranberry Walnut bread with my Yerba Mate this morning:) However, I don't plan to eat anything else the rest of the day.

As I look outside my window:::
Just thought I would show another picture of the tree just outside my dining room window:(

Behind the tree is the building with the solar array that hubby wanted to prevent shading issues on by cutting the tree waaayyy back!

Right now I am::::
Finishing up my toast and Yerba Mate`, writing this post and thinking about what needs to be done today while hubby is away.

As I look around the house::::
Have I mentioned dog toys in the living room?!!! Well, it is a forever thing at this house! Wilson ran around the house sqeaking a toy for about 15 minutes this morning before switching to another toy! I still need to make the bed and declutter the dining room table from the weekend.

On today's to do list::::
Laundry...Only one load of laundry today but I have a couple loads that were hanging in the Casita that need folded and put away.
Cleaning...I need to clean out the dishwasher, make the bed and declutter the dining room table.

Stampin' Up!...Nothing today but I need to send the Tuesday Update email tomorrow, prepare an order for Thursday, choose projects for Happy Stampers Club on the 19th and make sure I have everything for this month's swap card. Hmmm...that reminds me, I haven't received my swap card for October yet!Crocheting/Crafting...

  • Still working on the yellow and white baby afghan but I am have at least 2/3 finished.
  • Hemming napkins for Thanksgiving and a pocket square for hubby
  • Doll clothes for Granddaughter's American Girl Doll.
  • Swap card for Margarita's monthly swap
Cooking...No lunch or dinner today but tomorrow I am wanting to try a Vegan Butternut Squash Mac 'n Cheeze recipe. It looks sooo good and we have lots of Butternut Squash growing in the garden. We bring it in after the first light frost.

Currently reading::::
Just started If I Stay by Gayle Forman.

On the TV today::::
Nothing today unless I get started with some HGTV via Netflix:)

On the menu this week::::
No menu again this week! I have so many new recipes I want to try so hopefully can fit a few new ones in this week.

What I am creating at the moment::::
**See my "to do" list above

New recipe I tried or want to try this week::::
I mentioned the Butternut Mac 'n Cheeze above but also want to try Homemade Vegan ButterVegan Cheez-its and Tofu Popcorn Chik'n. Yes, the cooler weather brings out the cook in me and I love experimenting with new recipes!
Favorite photo from the camera::::

The Mandevilla is still absolutely gorgeous! It is beautiful growing on the trellis. Hubby will soon cut it back and bring it into the greenhouse where it will bloom all winter long. Then next spring we will bring it back outside where it can grow and bloom all summer and fall.

Prayers, Inspirational Quotes or Devotionals::::

Well, that's it for this week's Happy Homemaker Monday! Please come back tomorrow for Tasty Tuesday and I will share another one of my favorite recipes with you.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Sunday Night Chit-Chat

I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good:) We had new friends over last night and had a great time just visiting. Today we filled our 15L crock with cabbage from our garden that will become sauerkraut in 4-6 weeks. I think tomorrow we will try to fill the 30L crock or as close as we can get with the cabbage that's left.

I checked Carla's blog at My 1/2 Dozen Daily to see if she was doing the Sunday Night Chit-Chat but it doesn't look like she got the chance so...you get my version based on the questions from past Chit-Chats!

Our Sauerkraut making operation today
What...

  • Am I watching...Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I never wanted to watch it because I thought it was a teeny-bopper series but it is really a pretty good show about family dynamics.
  • Am I reading...The Deep Blue Sea for Beginners by Luanne Rice
  • Am I looking forward to this week...It's time for Happy Stampers this week! Plus I will pick up my new glasses on Thursday:)
  • Am I obsessive about...Stamping! I love, love, love stamping! I never get tired of it and most of my extra money gets spent on my stamping! So hard to say no to stamps and paper and ink, oh my!!!
  • Is my #1 goal for next week...I have to finish getting ready for my Happy Stampers Club! I am such a procrastinator:( Plus I need to get some Thank You cards made and in the mail.
  • Is my Best/Worst financial decision over the last week...I bought a couple Christmas gifts so that puts me ahead of the game:)
  • Is my favorite food...I think it would have to be pizza although I really like Mexican food.
  • Is on my wish list...Stamp-n-Storage Combo Holder to store my stamp pads, re-inkers and markers.
Well, that's it for tonight! I will be back tomorrow for Happy Homemaker Monday!

Sweetie Pie Birthday

I have been trying to get some things done around the house so today decided to tackle the shower. I mixed 1 teaspoon Dawn dish soap, 1 drop Jet Dry and water in a Dishwand then cleaned the shower walls and glass doors! I also cleaned up the shower organizer (it was really bad) so the shower looks so much better. Then I cleaned out the magazine rack beside my bed--lots to throw away! I feel so much better when I am getting things cleaned and organized!

The card for today is the one I made for my granddaughter for her 9th birthday last month! I combined two of my favorite stamp sets for this card...Sweetie Pie (sold out but I put a request in for Stampin' Up! to bring it back) and Flower Shop! This card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest by Kathleen Wingerson at Kathleen Stamps

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! supplies...

  • Paper: Crisp Cantaloupe, Basic Black, Coastal Cabana, and Whisper White cardstock; Lullaby Designer Series Paper
  • Ink: Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Basic Gray and Hello Honey
  • Stamps: Sweetie Pie (sold out), Flower Shop and Endless Wishes (sentiment)
  • Punches: Pansy, Petite Petals and Itty Bitty Punch Pack (retired)
  • Other: Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Stretch Ruffled Ribbon (retired), Basic Pearls
I hope you are having a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Stampers Meet Again

Last night my Happy Stampers Club met and made two "man" cards that we could use for Father's Day or Birthdays. "Man" cards are sometimes difficult to make, at least for me, because I love putting flowers on cards and guys typically don't want flowery cards. Now what's up with that???

The first card we made was designed and prepared by my stamping cohort and dear friend, Barb! Barb also opens up her house to the Happy Stampers each and every month and has for the last 4 years. I don't know what I would do without her!!!

Isn't it amazing!!! I really love everything about this card! Everyone was surprised and pleased with the results using the Hardwood Background stamp and the Woodgrain Embossing Folder! It is pretty impressive, don't you think?

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! products:

  • Paper: Soft Suede and Whisper White cardstock; Early Espresso Coordinations cardstock
  • Ink: Early Espresso
  • Stamps: Look Up to Father and Hardwood
  • Big Shot with Labels Collection Framelits and Woodgrain Embossing Folder
  • Other: Cotton yarn (non-SU!), sanding block and Dimensionals
Great "Man" card, don't you think? Thanks, Barb!

Our second project of the night was one I saw on Pinterest and I totally CASEd it!!! We had a great time doing the "rock & roll" method to get the two colors on the fish. It was like MAGIC!!! There were lots of oohs and ahhhs:)

Oh, who did I CASE this card from? Good question! It was Joanna Hooper at Joanna's Blog! Thanks, Joanna for the great card idea! I am sure our dads will love it! Not only am I giving this card for Father's Day but my brother's name is three letters also so guess what he's getting for his birthday. I have several fish stamped and sitting beside my chair waiting for me to cut them out:)

For this project I used the following Stampin' Up! products:

  • Paper: Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, Lucky Limeade (retired) and Whisper White
  • Ink: Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay and Lucky Limeade
  • Stamps: By the Tide and Morning Post Alphabet
  • Big Shot with Arrows Embossing Folder
  • Other: 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine (retired), Dimensionals
I hope you enjoyed seeing what the Happy Stampers did last night! We really did have a lot of fun!

How Does My Garden Grow

Technically,it's not my garden! But since I live here I am claiming it as my own:) Like having a gardener...who I happen to be married to! My hubby LOVES to make things grow! He plants all the flowers, fruit and veggies on our little homestead! Today as we were walking around checking everything out, he asked when I was going to blog about his garden. Sooo...

Since I took a lot of photos I wanted to share I decided to try making collages out of them with My Digital Studio on my computer. It's a digital scrapbooking and cardmaking program by Stampin' Up! (who else!). A free trial is available if you are interested! But, this post is not about my love of Stampin' Up!

The top photos are of our little flower area with the Mandevilla, ivy, Amaryllis and Begonias. The bottom photos are of the very swollen buds on the Peony bushes--just ready to burst forth with bloom! The inset is a bloom on a very short peony bush right next to the big one.

Then on to the food...

The raspberries are blooming and I am so ready for those juicy morsels. On the inset, can you see the bee? The raspberry bushes are full of honey bees at the moment...they are loving it!

The strawberries we transplanted are doing so good! They are very happy in their new home:) Don't they look happy?!!!

Hubby put out 39 tomato plants he started from seed in the greenhouse. He also purchased a few plants that will give us a jump on some early tomatoes. The others will be used for canning, making salsa and pasta sauce.

Check out the spinach. We ate some in a salad the other day. Then their is my favorite--Sugar Snap Peas! Oh, I can hardly wait!

Hubby also has bell peppers, hot peppers, cabbage, onions, collards and eggplant planted. He is still planning to plant beets, green beans, carrots and who knows what else!

I hope you enjoyed my little garden tour!

Sunday Night Chit-Chat

Hello, everyone! I hope your Mother's Day has been good.

I checked Carla's blog at My 1/2 Dozen Daily to see if her Sunday Night Chit-Chat was up but it isn't so I am going to go ahead and post mine. If she posts hers later I will link up; otherwise, I am on my own this week. I do love the Sunday Night Chit-Chat...well, any Chit-Chat, actually!

Today I was sharing with my mom about how much I love blogging and am so happy that after nearly 4 years I have over 40,000 visits and have written over 700 posts. Am I the only one who is impressed by that?!!! My mom seemed totally unimpressed. It was like I am about people who do extreme mountain climbing...why would they do that? Well, that's kind of how she was about my blogging...why would I even want to do that? Hmmm...have I ever mentioned how unsupportive my mom is? Now, the question is, why would I even share the information with her in the first place. Lapse of memory, I guess!

The Peonies are just about ready to bloom but I thought they
looked so pretty framing the red tulips.
So, on with the Chit-Chat!

What...

  • Am I watching...Just watched Frozen. Last Sunday we watched Saving Mr. Banks.
  • Am I reading...Light on Snow by Anita Shreve.
  • Am I looking forward to this week...Happy Stampers are meeting on Wednesday night!
  • Am I obsessive about...Having my books in order--some kind of order! I have a book shelf where all the books are alphabetical. I have other shelves where the books are in order by height. Some shelves are ordered by subject. Yes, I have a lot of books and a lot of shelves! A house with a lot of books is a happy house in my opinion:)
  • Is my #1 goal for next week...I have to finish getting ready for my Happy Stampers Club! I am such a procrastinator:( I think I say this at least once a month, right?!!!
  • Is my Best/Worst financial decision over the last week...I am supposed to be on a 21 Day Financial Fast but it hasn't been going so good:( As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator I am able to pre-order some items that are in the catalog that launches on June 2 so it's really hard for me NOT to order some of these items to share with my customers, right?!!! Well, let's just say that so far this month I've spent about $100 for new catalogs and pre-order items. Guess it could be worse.
  • Am I most happy I accomplished this week...I managed to get the vacuuming/mopping done before I went to the Chiropractor so as not to undo what he did! Hoping to keep everything in place for a couple weeks this time:) For some people NOT vacuuming wouldn't be a big deal but we have two dogs who shed the equivalent of a whole dog everyday! Why they aren't bald I have no idea! We brush and brush and still they shed:(
  • A wonderful Mother's Day surprise...I loved the cards and gifts from my kids today. I loved the phone call from my daughter this morning. I am so blessed. But, I was surprised this morning with a text from my niece telling  me that I am "a beautiful woman, amazing person and wonderful mother"! Boy, how I needed to hear that today! Thank you to my precious niece for this very special surprise!
Well, that's it for me tonight! Can you believe I did TWO posts today?!! Me, either! I will be back tomorrow with Sandra's Happy Homemaker Monday:)

P is for Paper Crafting

Oh my! I have had a hard time getting this post up this morning:( Picture me sitting in a hotel room in Portland, OR with my feet up blog hopping around to see what's going on in the A to Z Blogging Challenge world! There are some seriously good P posts out there today! Good Job!

Then, my sister is in the hospital with a blood clot in her leg. They are anticipating doing a "clot busting procedure" on her today as her leg is really swollen--abnormally so even for a blood clot! So I have been emailing and texting friends and family to facilitate prayer and a pastoral visit for her. If you would pray too, that would be nice.

Well, on to the post of the day...maybe I can finish it this go-round! I didn't keep it very short today; sorry!

As I was thinking about this post and how it related to the theme of All About Me (it is all about me, right?), I thought, "P is for Patience (don't have a lot of that); Procrastination (I'm an expert on that one); Preserving Food (well, I do and have done a lot of that); aha! (don't you love aha moments:) Paper Crafting!!! I have to work my paper crafts into this challenge whenever I can because it is what I truly love to do! Besides, what would the month be if I didn't show you some paper crafts, right?!!!

Wednesday night my Happy Stampers made a Card in a Box! It is quite the paper crafting sensation at the moment--lots of postings on Pinterest! I was inspired for this one by Tina Weller at The Serene Stamper (this link will take you to her post with video tutorial as well as printable instructions). Thank you Tina for the great tutorial!!!

Tada! Isn't it the cutest thing?!!! The box folds flat for mailing:) We did make special envelopes for our creations because they wouldn't fit in our standard size card envelopes but that was made easy using the Envelope Punch Board--love it! I could not believe how fun this was to make and decorate!

This is a side view of the box. Key is to not overfill as it gets really bulky and won't flatten well. So, less is more:)

For this project I used the following Stampin' Up Supplies:

  • Paper: Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green and Whisper White card stock; Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper
  • Stamp Sets: Flower Shop, Petite Petals and Chalk Talk
  • Ink: Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry
  • Punches: Pansy, Petite Petals, Bird Builder and Extra-Large Oval
  • Big Shot with Little Leaves Sizzlits
  • Other: Lots of Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Basic Pearls and Sticky Strip
It would be hard for you to enjoy this project as much as I did, but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless! I will be back tomorrow with the Letter Q--only 10 more letters to go!!! Last year I felt like such a winner when I completed this challenge!

Have a great day!

M is for My Favorite Things

Another day of the A to Z Blogging Challenge! Tomorrow will be the half-way point--Woo Hoo! The letter M was really hard because I had several directions to go. But finally I decided what would tell you the most about me would be to list some of My Favorite Things.

I don't know what's going on with my blog but yesterday's post seems to be wonky. I am so sorry but don't know what to do to fix it.

My Favorite Things (just a few):

  • Hugs from my granddaughter
  • Time spent with good friends
  • Debbie Macomber books
  • Iced drinks--water, tea, Chai
  • Stampin' Up! stamps, ink and paper
  • Miche Bags
  • Lined-dried sheets
  • Dove dark chocolate

  • Comments on my blog posts:)
Well, that's it for today--short and sweet!

Tomorrow is the letter N and so far I've got Nothing! Hmmm...that may be the post for tomorrow!

What are a few of your favorite things?

L is for Lollapalooza Stampers

We are starting another week of the A to Z Blogging Challenge!
This is a super busy week for me so I hope I can keep up:)
Would you do me a favor? If you visit my blog regularly or think you might like to, would you please sign up to be a Follower on the right side bar? I am currently at 92 Followers and would love to make it an even 100 by the end of this month!

On to the letter at hand...L is for Lollapalooza Stampers!

I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and have been for 4 years now! I love, love, love it!!! Well, I have a team of wonderful, fun, creative ladies and we are called the Lollapalooza Stampers! I was sooo excited to get this name for our team and couldn't believe that someone else hadn't snapped it up waayyy before me!

Lollapalooza--noun (Slang)
1. an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or instance.

I think my ladies are pretty extraordinary and they do some pretty extraordinary stamping projects so the name fit perfect!

The card above was sent to me by one of my Lollapalooza Stampers, Margarita. In addition to being on my team, she is a good friend. She has exceptional talent! She colored the stamped image with Prismacolor pencils. Prismacolor pencils are on my wish list! By the way, I plan to purchase this stamp set, Pure Innocence--Close Knit, to add to my "stash" of cool stamps:)

On this one we stamped the flowers directly onto the Strawberry Slush card stock with Strawberry Slush ink (tone on tone). So happy with the results:)

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! supplies:

  • Ink: Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe and Coastal Cabana
  • Stamp Sets: Flower Shop, Petite Petals and Easter Blossoms (retired)
  • Punches: Pansy and Petite Petals
