G is for Gramma

MY Grandma

I have been a Gramma for almost 8 years and it has been the best experience of my life! I remember the day she was born--amazing! I couldn't believe the joy I felt at being part of this new little person's life!

My granddaughter lives about 6 1/2 hours from me and when she was born I committed to visit her every 3 months.  I have visited 30 times in almost 8 years; only missing two regular visits! When I "retired" in June of 2010, I started spending a whole week with my granddaughter twice a year plus two long weekend visits each year.

This week I have been visiting my granddaughter and we have had a great time! We went shopping, played table games, watched movies, made cards and enjoyed each other immensely! Tomorrow morning I will walk her to the bus stop, write a note to leave on her bed and drive home with tears in my eyes.

While I would love to have more grandchildren, I am very thankful to have  one! She is amazing! If you're a grandparent, you know what I'm talking about!

Tomorrow will be the letter H so I hope you will stop by to see what I do for that letter. The only letter I am having trouble with for this week is J. Any ideas?

Have a great day!

Kat

  1. Having a wonderful Grandma is such a great thing for a child. And I'm sure you are an amazing Grandma :) My parents live across the world, and it's so hard when they can't be in life of my boys much. So far they visit once a year the most but I'm grateful even for that!! Enjoy time with your granddaughter! She will grow up before you know it :)

    1. I really try to be a good Grandma! It would be really hard if I could only see her once a year but guess I would just stay for a couple of months! Wouldn't my son-in-law love that:D

It is really amazing how fast she has grown! She'll be a teenager before I know it!

    1. I think you're correct! I resemble my Grandma quite a bit! I saw it when I was looking at pictures of her when she was a young mother. Looks so much like I did at the same age. She was a sweetie!

  4. Stopping by from A-Z, thanks for your visit. Your blog theme and this post really caught my eye. I am newly retired grandma. My kids are in CA and I am in MO. Might I suggest Skype, if you are not already doing it. I love our visits a couple of times a month and it helps to not miss all things growing up.

    1. I get to see my granddaughter at least every 3 months but the Skype idea is a good one. We do the Google chat thing with picture occasionally. So much fun to just sit and chat with them:)
