Friends (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
Yesterday I drove north of my daughter's to visit a friend I have known for over 40 years. She is a widow now having lost her husband last year but she has her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren living close by. My visits with Joan are always like "coming home"! I think she probably knows me better than I know myself! My visits with her are always special.
I believe the saying, "There are friends for a reason, a season and a lifetime." I have had some great friends in my life but the friendships don't always last and when they don't I've found it's best to NOT try to resurrect them. I have tried but it's not the same. Things change, people change, circumstances change.
My favorite friends are the "low maintenance" friends! Now that might sound kinda selfish but I have had some high maintenance friends and they are exhausting! Do you know what I mean?!!!
I currently have some wonderful "low maintenance" friends and am so thankful for each and every one. And a side benefit of blogging has been "meeting" other bloggers and becoming friends--kinda like pen pals of old!
Another favorite saying about friends is...
"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words."
The A to Z Challenge Bloggers take Sundays off because there are only 26 letters in the alphabet and there are 30 days in April so the letter G will be on Monday. However, I am hoping to make it back for the Sunday Night Chit-Chat tomorrow night!
I hope you, too, have friends who make your life just a little better each day! Have a great day!
Kat
Friends are the BEST. Lovely post, Kat.
ReplyDeleteI sure appreciate you, dear friend!
DeleteI am RIGHT there with you. I don't have the energy or time for high maintenance friends. Glad all of mine at the moment are low maintenance lol
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with the family :)
I am enjoying my family:) I am also thankful to have low maintenance friends at the moment! I appreciate each and every one!
DeleteWonderful point!! Couldn't agree more! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Carla! And thanks for stopping by! You have been one busy lady lately!!!
DeleteA meaningful post though there are times I'd like to recognise the difference those other friends made in my life at the time.

A to Z 2013
I totally agree, Pauleen! I have had some high maintenance friends in my life who were valuable in my life and I would trade the experience for anything!
DeleteI have a few friends that have made it down the years. They are thinning out lately, sadly. Nice post. Now I'm thinking about my friends.
ReplyDeleteMost of my friends have been for the reason or season variety but fortunately a few have made it into the lifetime category.
DeleteGreat post!! The real friends are those who survive time and struggles of life. I've met lots of amazing people in my life but as life moved on, they moved on too. It's hard to call these people my real friends, more like nice acquaintances.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a REAL friend to survive the time and struggles! Those are few and far between. Thanks for visiting Lena!
