Summer Smooches Gate Fold Card

Now, is this a happy card or what?!!! I love Summer Smooches!!! How can you not with all those happy colors going on?

This is a Gate Fold Card that I CASEd from Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty. I was perusing her One Minute to WOW! Video Tutorial list and there it was...Gate Fold Card. Mary's One Minute to WOW! Video Tutorials are great. If you haven't checked them out, now is the time!

Paper Crafting Fun

Yesterday I got to spend the day with my favorite 10 year old, Kelley. Since I know several 10 years olds, you might ask what makes her my favorite. Well, I have known her since before she was born. I baby sat her as an infant and toddler. She and I have a special bond that the years just seem to make stronger. AND, she loves to craft! 

Today I am showing you Kelley's  paper crafting from yesterday. She was a card making machine!!! Every time she comes to visit her skill level improves:)

For this card we used the card template from Dawn Griffith at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts that my Happy Stampers made in July. I already had the base card cut out of Tempting Turquoise card stock but Kelley did all the stamping and decorating! For this project she used Summer Smooches dsp and Bold Blossoms stamp set. 

She remembered me making a wedding card last summer and wanted to try it for herself. Again the idea came from Dawn Griffith at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts (the links take you directly to her video tutorial). I think she did a great job, don't you? She was itching to use the stamp from Creative Elements that she wrote "Contrats" in! She really enjoys the stamps!

She was having a great time punching out hearts so I cut her a base for the Tri-fold Card in Perfect Plum. She used Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Pool Party and Island Indigo card stock for this card--no stamping necessary:)

I was having a hard time getting a picture of this card without the glare. It must have been the black because I was taking the picture in the exact same spot and with the same lighting as the others. Hmmm. Kelley was particularly proud of this card. She eyed the Blossom Builder Punch and started to think of the possibilities. She used 4 layers of petals with a dimensional between each level. I think this card stock was Raspberry Ripple but it could have been Rose Red--sorry I can't remember but either would work good for this card. The white dot in the middle is actually a Large Basic Pearl.

Last but not least, is this adorable Birthday Card. She used Island Indigo as her base. Her stamping was done on Whisper White using Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade and Pretty in Pink Classic Stampin' Pads. The cupcakes are from the Carry On Hostess stamp set and the sentiment is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set. She put different colored brads in each corner.

So, if you have every thought you couldn't possibly make your own cards, just see what a 10 year old can do! I am really looking forward to next summer when she will be able to visit again. We usually get a few crafting days in per summer:)

Summer Smooches Notepad Case

My Happy Stampers meet TONIGHT and I am sooo excited for them to see the projects I have for them! As promised, I will tell you which one of the Matchbook Post-it Holders I decided to use...both of them; well sorta! I decided to use the Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo but give the ladies a choice of which stamp set to use to decorate it! Now, how smart was that!!! I love choices, don't you? For the other two stamping club projects you will just have to wait because I don't want to spoil the surprise for the ladies:)

I am sure you're asking yourself what's up with that BORING picture Kat has up today?!!! For the last several months I have been giving the "hostess of the month" at stamping club a notepad case (when I remember to BUY the cases to make them). I found the idea and instructions on Jill Olsen's website Stamping Jill. For the video tutorial click HERE. 

The notepad case is made using:

• one of Stampin' Up!'s Clear Mount Stamp Cases (4 for $5.95)
• a piece of 10 1/2" X 7" piece of double sided Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
• a 5" wide note pad and you can either put an envelope inside to hold receipts or a Post-it note pad. Now, just a note about the notepads...take your ruler with you when purchasing the notepads. Staples sells one that says 5" X 8" but it is in fact 5 1/8" and won't work. The notepads at Office Max and Office Depot are the correct size but measure to be sure. They come in a package of 12 but since you want your notepad to be 7" long, not 8", you will need to ask them to cut 1" off your notepads.

Since the notepad case looked a little BORING, I decided to add this little flower using the Blossom Punch with Lucky Limeade and Rich Razzleberry card stock. I topped it off with a button from the Brights Collection.  Now, what do you think my "hostess" will think of that?!!!

See? Pretty paper on the inside too (thanks to double-sided dsp)! A full pad of Post-its won't fit with the notepad so I just peeled off about 2/3 of a pad to put in the case. I took a 2" x 5" strip of the same Summer Smooches dsp to wrap around the top of the notepad. I used Sticky Strip to adhere it. 

If you watch the video tutorial by Jill Olsen (Jackie Bolhuis is demonstrating the project on this video) you will see that you can really gussy this up. I will try to do one soon to show you what I mean. These notepad cases make wonderful gifts so I hope you make one soon.

Summer Smooches Thank You

Can you believe another card WITHOUT Dimensionals!!! So out of character for me but this card combines so many things that I really like! And I especially like the color combination of Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade! This card is the Thank You card I am sending to my customers for July. The inspiration for this card was again Dawn Olchefske at DO Stamping with Dawn. She is part of the Control Freaks group and their blog hops are truly inspirational! If you have time, do a "tour de Freaks" with the Control Freaks! 

For this card I used the following Stampin' Up! products:

• Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade and Whisper White card stock; Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
• Stamp sets: Sassy Salutations and Bright Blossoms
• Classic Stampin' Pads: Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade
• Other: Basic Pearls and White Grosgrain ribbon (from not sure where)

I want to show you one more card today. It is actually the Comfort Cafe Shutter Card I posted on July 20. Since I already posted it I didn't think it deserved a separate post. I did a little Step-it Up before I sent it to my friend Nancy for her birthday.

New & Improved

I decided to use the Occasions Alphabet stamp set for extra sentiments because my friend Nancy is extra special:) I also added a Basic Rhinestone for the head of each butterfly. I really like the way it turned out and I think Nancy will to when she gets the card this week in the mail! Sometimes when I think a card is "missing something" I just have to look at it for a few days and ideas start coming.

Summer Smooches Petite Purse

Our Happy Stampers had a fun time making this adorable little purse last Wednesday night! Each person chose their own card stock color to coordinate with the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper. This little purse holds 4-5 Hershey's Treasures or would be perfect to present a gift of jewelry to a little (or big) girl! I have seen them made for Bridal Shower or Baby Shower favors--sooo cute!!!


For this project I used the following Stampin' Up! products:

• Big Shot and Petite Purse Die
• Paper: Tempting Turquoise and Real Red card stock; Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
• Island Indigo Designer Printed Brad; yellow brads (from not sure where)

Birthday Pop-up Card

My granddaughter's birthday is in June so thought it would be fun to make a birthday card for her at our May Happy Stampers Club meeting. I had the tutorial for the card I wanted to make but wanted to work it up to make sure it was doable for me! 

I'm afraid I put it together kinda quick so didn't get my pieces as straight as I would have liked. Next month I will be able to show you the one for my granddaughter and will take more time with it. My granddaughter is only six but she appreciates my cards, gushes over them and saves them in a special place:) 


For this card I used:

• Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Real Red
• Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper--I LOVE this paper!!! Oh, have I said that before?!!!
• Sentiment from Tea Shoppe stamp set
• Punches: Scallop Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Cupcake Builder, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, Scallop Border
• Big Shot, Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (Hearts)
• Dimensionals, Sticky Strip

The picture at right is what the card looks like when opened! Whoo Hoo! This is one really cool card! For the granddaughter I plan to use Pink Pirouette (or Pretty in Pink, not sure yet), Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush--very girlie! You could attach a gift card to the piece of Daffodil Delight.

More Summer Smooches!

I just LOVE saying Summer Smooches! And since the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper will be in the new 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog, I will be able to use Summer Smooches ALL year long!!! You will definitely see a lot of Summer Smooches over the next few months anyway:)

This card would be wonderful to send to a friend who needs to know you're thinking about her. Or change up the sentiment to send anytime! So simple and so cute! How can you not smile when you see the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper?!!! Then pair it with the Bright Blossoms stamp set and you have the makings for a great card!
