Once upon a time, we were visiting Costco and one of the product demonstrators offered us a bottle of water with Zipfizz added to it! We were sold! I love this stuff!

What's for Breakfast?

I haven't done a What's for Breakfast post for awhile because it seems we eat the same rotation of things over and over. However, since we had the food allergy testing it seems there are less of our regular breakfast foods we can eat--eggs, tofu (hubby can't have soy), oatmeal, whole wheat cereals. So yesterday morning after hubby had been grocery shopping, I put together a plate like the one above for each of us! All I can say is YUMMY!!! The bread is the garlic artisan bread from Costco. I mashed the avocado on the one slice because it is the heel and I didn't want the avocado to fall off! The strawberries (also from Costco) are from California. They have a lot of flavor but aren't sweet like they will be a little later. This morning we had a plate like it only I added fresh pineapple as well. Simply Delicious!

Sunday Night Chit Chat

Welcome to the Sunday Night Chit-Chat! For my picture this evening I chose to show off the new swivel-rocker recliner I got for my birthday! We purchased new living room furniture 3 1/2 years ago but I wasn't ready to part with my Papasan Chair yet so didn't purchase a new chair for me. My hubby is a big man--6'6" tall and weight to match--so purchased a Big Man's Chair for himself. I wanted something that fit me so we got this lady's leather swivel-rocker recliner at Costco. I thought they looked funny sitting next to each other. Definitely a "Papa Bear/Mama Bear" thing! Beau is relaxing on the carpet in front of the chair:)

Watching...Nothing at the moment but if I can stay up long enough I might watch The Mentalist. Highly unlikely though:(


Listening to...The wind blowing HARD outside and the puppy snoring beside me inside! Love his sweet little snore!


Baking/Cooking...It cooled off just a little today so make Hashbrowns and Scrambled Eggs for breakfast and tacos for dinner. Everything turned out yummy and everyone was happy.


Happy that I accomplished this week...I got lots of thank you cards made and sent this week!


Looking forward to next week...Stamping Club on Wednesday night! Always so much fun creating and visiting with the ladies!!! 


BONUS QUESTION:


What is my top priority right now? Definitely cleaning and organizing my office and craft room so I can actually do something in them. I need to make a schedule to reflect that it is a priority!

Me & My New Shoes

I had a town day with my hubby on Monday! Lots we needed to do but got to do some fun stuff too like eat lunch at Olive Garden:) So yummy! I could make a meal out of just salad and bread sticks!!!


Our biggest (and longest) stop was Costco--my eye appointment, picking out the frames (yuck--wanted something fun but ended up with functional), buying groceries...and I found these shoes! I have been wanting something like this since last summer--a sport shoe that I didn't have to wear socks with! The price on the ones I had been looking at was $80 and I wasn't willing to pay that much. Looking online showed that the retail for these was $79.99! Well, the beauty of these was Costco only had two sizes left--6 and 8 (I wear an 8). And the best part??? They were only $39.99!!! I was doing a little happy dance right there in the aisle! They are so comfy and super cute!

Weekly Money Check-Up

It's time again for the Weekly Money Check-up! This post is originated by Ginna at My Pretty Pennies.

1. The most I spent this last week was on groceries! Hubby and I went to Costco yesterday and it was a whopper! Plus I had an eye exam and purchased new glasses--also at Costco. Got a new pair of shoes at Costco too but that will be another post:) My brother says "if you can't buy it at Costco, you don't need it!"
2. Today I am thankful for the fun town day I had with my husband yesterday.
3. Money can't buy happiness. One free thing I did last week that made me happy was blogging! I had a great time blogging last week and "playing" along with Carla's Sunday Night Chit-Chat; Ginna's Weekly Money Check-up and Sandra's Happy Homemaker Monday! Now we need a Wacky Wednesday and a Friday Finish! Anybody game?!!!
4. I will consider this week a success if I finish the doll dress I am crocheting; finish making my new clothes pin bag and get the cards made that need to go out this week.
5. One craft I would like to master is knitting. I knit I have never tried to knit garments. I would love to have a sweater knit with my own two hands.

New Range

I recently got a new range and I love it! Actually I wasn't even thinking about a new stove even though the old one had some issues but hubby found one and bought it! Where??? Why, Costco, of course!


My new stove is a Premier Pro Series 30" Stainless Steel Sealed Burner Gas Range by Peerless. I am finding that the black top shows every speck of dust but am willing to live with that! The back left burner has 15,000 BTUs as opposed to 9,100 BTUs for the two burners on the right side. The front left burner is called a Simmer Burner with only 600 (low)-6,000 (high) BTUs. 


"The Natural Convection Oven System has a baffled oven burner that distributes heat evenly through scientifically located oven vents for better baking performance." It also has a low 150 degree oven thermostat that is perfect for making my granola which I bake at 150 degrees overnight. The oven door closes and the racks easily pull in and out (the issues with my old stove). 


You might be asking why we purchased this particular range as opposed to one of the many on the market. We live off-grid so we are very conscious of power usage and did you know that most gas ranges use electricity for more than just the clock and oven light? Most gas ranges have what they call a glow bar that uses about 400 watts of electricity the whole time the oven is on. Another drawback to these ranges is that if your power is off, you cannot use your stove--the burners will not work and neither will the oven. With my new range, if I don't have any power (rare at my house) I can light my burners with a match and still use the oven. Took some careful research on my hubby's part to get just the range we needed. 


I thought I would show a picture of my oven while it is still clean:) I sure hope I can keep it looking like this!  Look at that shine!!!


For someone who likes to cook as much as I do, a good range is important. Check out the bread on the counter beside the stove:)

I LOVE My Bed!

I don't know if I've mentioned before that I have Fibromyalgia but I do. And as a result, some days my body just doesn't want to stay upright so go lie in my bed for a bit and all is right with the world again. So the comfort of my bed is important to me. Recently I realized my pillow just wasn't working anymore. My favorite pillow of all time was a down pillow I purchased from Costco about ten years ago. Less than a year ago we decided to go cheap and get a "down alternative" pillow that ended up bunching up in no time at all. Decided to send my personal shopper hubby off to Costco to see about some new down pillows. They didn't have down pillows this time but had Pacific Coast "DownAround" pillows which is like a pillow in a pillow. "Small, springy feathers fill inner pillow for firm support" and "fluffy down-filled outer pillow for soft comfort". The Pacific Coast Feather Company website has them for $35.99 (on sale) and we got two for that price at Costco.


My new pillow is amazing. It is everything the company advertised. There is a zippered outer cover that can be removed for washing but the pillow itself is also machine washable and dryable (add two tennis balls to dryer when drying pillows). They state on the package that the down and feathers are Hyperclean and therefore allergy free. Now, how do they do that?!!! 


If you are looking for new pillows for yourself or want to treat your guests to some really nice pillows, go to Costco for the Pacific Coast Feather Company DownAround Pillows. They have a "30 night comfort guarantee" but as you know with Costco, they will take back just about anything with very little reason. Trust me, you won't need to to take these pillows back but nice to know you could if you wanted to.
