Zen Water Filter

We have lived in our current location for nearly 20 years. We have a 20 acre piece of property that is surrounded on two sides by wheat fields and on two sides by range land. No neighbors for a couple of miles. When we drilled our well we were so thrilled to have pure, clean, good tasting water. We had plenty of water for a long time. However, last summer it seemed that our pump was not keeping up with the demand so we had to let our lawn go dry to have enough to water the garden.

Fast forward to this spring! Hubby decided to put a new pump in the well and found out the pump was not the problem, we had a hole in the pipe so the water was pumping up and out; not into our storage tanks! We went ahead and put the new pump down because if you've dealt with wells and pumps and well-drillers, you know that it's expensive just to pull the pump!

During this whole process we got to thinking about our water and how the wheat farmers spray their fields and perhaps some of it was getting into our well water--who knows! Our well is deep, 650 feet, so maybe isn't a problem but we decided to get a water filtration system just to be sure we have safe water to drink!

After much research, we decided on the Zen Water System. The water goes through a micronized ceramic dome filter first then onto a 5-stage mineral filter cartridge then last are the mineral stones. We had been using a Pur Water Pitcher but I was having to fill it up several times a day and the filters aren't cheap. We were having to change the filter 2 X a month because we use a lot of water. With the Zen, we wash the micronized ceramic dome about every two weeks (they say to do it once a month but we think ours needs it more often) and change it once a year. The 5-stage mineral filter cartridge needs to be changed about every six months.

We have been super happy with the Zen Water System! If you are in the market for a water filtration system be sure to check them out!

I am going to make every effort to be back for the Sunday Night Chit-Chat!
